My Path of Kundalini
The Harvest Moon 9th Moon in the Lunar Calendar Moon of Balance and Gathering The Harvest Moon is the full moon that falls closest to the Autumn Equinox, the sacred time of Alban Elfed, when day and night stand in perfect balance before the dark half of the year begins its reign. Sometimes this moon rises in September, sometimes in early October, but its essence is always the same: it is the moon of gathering, gratitude, and balance. In the Celtic way of seeing, this moon belongs to the Middleworld, the realm of reciprocity and right relationship between the seen and unseen. It calls us to take stock of what the year has brought, to gather the fruits of our labour, and to honour both bounty and loss in equal measure. The light of the Harvest Moon is practical as well as mystical. Rising close to sunset, it lingers in the sky, gifting farmers and gatherers extra hours of brightness to bring in the grain, the apples, the nuts, and the berries. Spiritually, this glow reminds us that the Otherworld lends its light to the human realm in times of need. This is the second harvest, following the first gathering at Lughnasadh. Where August’s feast belonged to Lugh, the shining one, September’s harvest is offered to the Mother and Sovereign goddess, who receives the fruits of the land and blesses the people with sustenance for the winter months. It is a time of questions and reflection:
The Harvest Moon carries both sweetness and solemnity. It is an altar of plenty and a reminder of impermanence. In its golden glow we are invited to bow in thanks, to share with kin and community, and to make offerings back to the land, ensuring that the sacred cycle of giving and receiving continues unbroken. Harvest Moon Ritual:
Somatic Grounding Practice:
"I gather what is ripe in me. I give thanks for what I have grown.
I release what no longer needs to be carried."
