Dieta
Dieta
In the lead up to our retreat, we will also be offering for you to step into dieta which is the physical part of the preparation process. Dieta is a spanish word for “diet’ and traditionally originates from the indigenous people of Amazonia. A dieta is where you commit for a period of time devoted to one plant. It includes dietary restrictions and behavioural regimens. You eat a very bland diet and isolate, removing all distractions and stimulations.
This process helps us to connect and attune to the plant kingdom, creating a deep relationship which can bring about profound transformations.
We will be creating a quiet environment within and without. We achieve this in a few ways, one is by removing from our diet; salt, oil, caffeine, chilli, and strong flavours, we abstain from sexual activity, intoxicants and psycho-active substances, including alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, etc. We turn off our phones and go within, opening ourselves to commune and connect with Rose. This process also helps us to gently peal back any habits that have been serving to distract, stimulate or numb us. We become more sensitive to what’s really going on below, and makes it much easier to identify and become intimate with the parts of us which are longing for attention.
To start to prepare your body, mind and energy in honour of the Rose we recommend drinking plenty of water, spring if possible and eating lots of yummy fresh fruit, salad and vegetables. We request for the week leading up to our retreat you refrain from consuming meat, refined sugars, strong spices, chilli, dairy, excessive salt, fried food and caffeine and abstain from sexual activity, alcohol, nicotine and drugs. Its also really beneficial to become aware of emotional hygiene, so bringing awareness to what you listen to and watch, avoiding overly stimulating, distressing or disturbing media, interactions and environments. You could also start to distance yourself from social media.
If you’re a caffeine drinker, stopping suddenly can cause headaches, so we advise that you slowly start coming off caffeine a few weeks before our time together and if you struggle with any of the above please reach out for support or guidance.
If you want to go a bit deeper you could also incorporate in a fast or cleanse for purification, but I only recommend this if you have done one before. Again if you’d like any advice on this please reach out.
During retreat we will be offering two meals a day, these will be very simple dishes of rice and veg. My personal experience is that sometimes this diet can be very easy, other times I have struggled and with this comes the opportunity to go within and to see what is arising, what is the body trying to communicate? Sometimes what and how we eat can be emotional, it can be avoiding, hiding or distracting us from our process. So my offer is to jump in, to embrace the diet, to be with what arises and to drop into gratitude of what we are eating. Its a great opportunity to have a little glimpse into what it is like to not have much flavour or quantity and give thanks to what we do have.
Also as part of the dieta we ask if everyone can avoid strong smelling deodorant or perfume, again we want to give space for Rose. So maybe bring some Rose essential oil, Rose shampoo and body wash!!
Sexual intimacy
With our immersion we are opening and offering ourselves over to Rose and so we wish to take space and time to come back to ourselves. To know and attune back to our own energy. We can support this process by calling back our energy and devoting our preparation to ourselves, this involves abstaining from sexual intimacy, with ourselves and others. Sexual energy is highly charged and so by abstaining it helps to calm the physical and subtle energy bodies.
Bringing Balance
As part of our preparation we are taking time to regulate our nervous system and with that brings balance to our mind and body. So if you find that you are a very active person it might be nice to slow day and take rest, or if you feel you are under-active then maybe bring in some gentle movement, yoga or walking. Spend some time tuning into and asking, ‘what does my body, mind, heart need to help me prepare?
Sleep and rest
Getting rested in advance of our immersion will also help. It allows the physical system to become quiet, and can help remove stagnant energy. Massage or sauna can help the process too, as can yoga, walking in nature and/or getting your barefoot on the ground. The best approach is to move energy without getting exhausted. Sleeping for 7-8 hours per night before and after will help with the preparation and integration process
