Dieta
In the lead up to our retreat, we will also be offering for you to step into dieta which is the physical part of the preparation process. Dieta is a spanish word for “diet’ and traditionally originates from the indigenous people of Amazonia. A dieta is where you commit for a period of time devoted to one plant, building a relationship with the plant spirit. The more devotion, sincere, honest and committed we are to the dieta the deeper a relationship we will build and the more energy we give the more we receive. It includes dietary restrictions and behavioural regimens. You eat a very bland diet and isolate, removing all distractions and stimulations.
This process helps us to connect and attune to the plant kingdom, creating a deep relationship which can bring about profound transformations.
We will be creating a quiet environment within and without. We achieve this in a few ways, one is by removing from our diet; salt, oil, caffeine, chilli, and strong flavours, we abstain from sexual activity, intoxicants and psycho-active substances, including alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, etc. We turn off our phones and go within, opening ourselves to commune and connect with Rose. This process also helps us to gently peal back any habits that have been serving to distract, stimulate or numb us. We become more sensitive to what’s really going on below, and makes it much easier to identify and become intimate with the parts of us which are longing for attention.
To start to prepare your body, mind and energy in honour of the Rose we recommend drinking plenty of water, spring if possible and eating lots of yummy fresh fruit, salad and vegetables. We request for the week leading up to our retreat you refrain from consuming meat, refined sugars, strong spices, chilli, dairy, excessive salt, fried food and caffeine and abstain from sexual activity, alcohol, nicotine and drugs. Its also really beneficial to become aware of emotional hygiene, so bringing awareness to what you listen to and watch, avoiding overly stimulating, distressing or disturbing media, interactions and environments. You could also start to distance yourself from social media.
If you’re a caffeine drinker, stopping suddenly can cause headaches, so we advise that you slowly start coming off caffeine a few weeks before our time together and if you struggle with any of the above please reach out for support or guidance.
If you want to go a bit deeper you could also incorporate in a fast or cleanse for purification, but I only recommend this if you have done one before. Again if you’d like any advice on this please reach out.
During retreat we will be offering two meals a day, these will be very simple dishes of rice and veg. My personal experience is that sometimes this diet can be very easy, other times I have struggled and with this comes the opportunity to go within and to see what is arising, what is the body trying to communicate? Sometimes what and how we eat can be emotional, it can be avoiding, hiding or distracting us from our process. So my offer is to jump in, to embrace the diet, to be with what arises and to drop into gratitude of what we are eating. Its a great opportunity to have a little glimpse into what it is like to not have much flavour or quantity and give thanks to what we do have.
Also as part of the dieta we ask if everyone can avoid strong smelling deodorant or perfume, again we want to give space for Rose. So maybe bring some Rose essential oil, Rose shampoo and body wash!!
Dieta is an amazing opportunity to come home to yourself. To begin the process of quietening our internal and external worlds so that we can listen to the subtle voice of our heart, body and soul. This deep listening enables us to come into presence, becoming more aware of our own feelings and needs. Anchoring our awareness in the moment without distractions so that we can fully connect with what is going on below the surface, becoming present with what is calling for our attention.
From this quite space of deep listening many insights and new prospective can arise. We can begin to see the whole picture. We can follow threads, see connections and understand where we are holding trauma and the root cause of it. Furthermore, it empowers us to see what actions we need to take to create lasting change. Deep conscious listening reveals solutions to problems that we couldn't perceive before, and helps us to see the core wound of where they came from and the part we have played.
From here we begin to take responsibility and ownership of our healing. We shift our mindset from victimhood to creatorhood, acknowledging our creative power. We empower ourselves to be the creators of our reality.
Sexual intimacy
With our immersion we are opening and offering ourselves over to Rose and so we wish to take space and time to come back to ourselves. To know and attune back to our own energy. We can support this process by calling back our energy and devoting our preparation to ourselves, this involves abstaining from sexual intimacy, with ourselves and others. Sexual energy is highly charged and so by abstaining it helps to calm the physical and subtle energy bodies.
Bringing Balance
As part of our preparation we are taking time to regulate our nervous system and with that brings balance to our mind and body. So if you find that you are a very active person it might be nice to slow down and take rest, or if you feel you are under-active then maybe bring in some gentle movement, yoga or walking. Spend some time tuning into and asking, ‘what does my body, mind, heart need to help me prepare?
Meditation
Another way to bring balance, and stillness to our minds and bodies is through a daily meditation practice. This quiet space will also really support you in connecting with your body and anything that is arising. There are many different and varied ways in which we can meditate, if you are new to meditation and need support please reach out.
Sleep and rest
Getting rested in advance of our immersion will also help, as alot of energy is needed when doing deep healing work. It allows the physical system to become quiet, and can help remove stagnant energy. Sleeping for 7-8 hours per night before and after will help with the preparation and integration process.
Nature
Spend time in nature everyday. Feel how nature helps us to connect back to ourselves. Releasing busyness, clearing the mind and energy field and helps us to ground and come into a deeper sense of peace, relaxation and presence.
Get Sorted!
Take time to get on top of any emails, jobs, anything you need to organise, so that you can fully let go knowing everything is taken care of . It's also a great opportunity to have a clear out, get rid of anything that is no longer needed. Clutter creates chaos, which in turn impacts our ability to focus and be presence. So enjoy a good declutter! Have a good clean, create a temple space around you that reflects the temple within you.
DIgital Detox
Take time off from social media and use that time to enjoy a self love practice, giving space for the mind to declutter and create mental space for self reflection. Notice if social media is a distraction method to avoid feeling something. Can you be with what needs to be felt?
Emotional Hygiene
Be aware of what you're listening to, what your watching, avoiding overly stimulating, distressing or disturbing media, interactions and environments, and have awareness around who you are spending time with. Are these activities nourishing or do they leave you feeling stressed or tired? Ask you loved ones to support your preparation by honouring your needs. Enjoy positive, supportive connections.
This process also helps us to gently peal back any habits that have been serving to distract, stimulate or numb us. We become more sensitive to what’s really going on below, and makes it much easier to identify and become intimate with the parts of us which are longing for attention.
If you want to go a bit deeper you could also incorporate in a fast or cleanse for purification, but I only recommend this if you have done one before. Again if you’d like any advice on this please reach out.

- Red meat

For 4 weeks after, abstain from:

- Any Psychoactive substance (cocaine, MDMA, amphetamines, etc.)
- Pork
- Intense exercise or intense breathwork (such as holotropic, any deep process-inducing breathwork)
We want to re-emphasise that maintaining the diet is an absolutely essential factor in the healing process. The three most fundamental restrictions are street drugs (cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, etc.), sexual activity, and pork.
This is so the healing received can be integrated fully into our energy system and thus our life.
After Dieta we are energetically very open and sensitive and so we want to create a nurturing, supportive environment to land and integrate all of the gifts, teachings and insights that may have come.
Experiences can be very profound and they may also be subtle or still landing and thus it is therefore good to create space for the experience. I would highly recommend taking 3 -7 days off after, so that you have time and space to rest, reflect and regulate and to be with anything that arises.
To also give space for reflection and action planning to bring forward any changes that wish to happen.
